Maxwell George Schneider (born June 21, 1992), also known by his mononym MAX, is an American singer-songwriter, actor and model, signed to Arista and Sony RED. ''Max'' is a 2015 American family adventure war drama film directed by Boaz Yakin, and co-written with Sheldon Lettich. The film stars Josh Wiggins, Thomas Haden Church, Robbie Amell, Lauren Graham, Luke Kleintank, and Jay Hernandez. The film was released by Warner Bros. on June 26, 2015. Max (12 August 2007 – 6 April 2022) was an English Springer Spaniel pet dog who in February 2021 became the first ever pet to receive the PDSA Order of Merit, an award which is considered the animal equivalent on the OBE and is normally reserved for dogs such as Police dogs or Service dogs. He died on 6 April 2022. Background Kerry Irving of Cumbria in the United Kingdom was seriously injured in a road traffic accident and while recuperating and suffering from depression, he adopted Max to bring for walks to assist him in his wellbeing. Kerry credits Max as giving him the will to live again. Max (6 March 1971 – 5 May 2004) was a western lowland gorilla held at the Johannesburg Zoo who in 1997 was shot and wounded by Isaac Mofokeng, a criminal who entered his enclosure at the zoo while attempting to evade police. Max was born on 6 March 1971, in Germany's Frankfurt Zoo and died 5 May 2004, at the Johannesburg Zoo. A bronze statue of Max has been erected near the gorilla enclosure in the zoo. Makoko, a gorilla from the Munster Zoo in Germany, replaced Max as Lisa's partner then they died. Shooting incident On 18 July 1997, police surprised Isaac Mofokeng while committing a crime in Saxonwold next to the zoo. Trying to evade police, Mofokeng entered the zoo grounds and the enclosure where Max and his mate Lisa were held.
